About Blue Water Swimming

Alison Betts

Alison Betts - Blue Water Swimming teacher

Blue Water Swimming is run by me, Alison Betts.

I started Blue Water Swimming after taking my daughter to baby swimming classes when she was a few months old. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and seeing the benefits to Jessica, even at that very young age, made me want to invest further not only for my own daughter but for other babies and toddlers.

Blue Water Swimming started in 2006 and has grown from a few classes of babies and toddlers to having lesson every day in three different pools in Sheffield and Chesterfield. As well as baby and toddler classes we have expanded into mainstream children’s lessons being able to offer the full service from baby classes through to children’s classes.

Alison Loves: Spending time with Steve and Jess
Favourite food: Chinese Stir Fry and Prawn Crackers
Favourite Activity: No favourite – enjoy all activities
Dislikes: Ironing

About Our Teachers

Wendy Hamilton-Butters has been teaching with us for a number of years.

She started training with us after being a mum in our baby and toddler classes. Like me she loved the experience of early swimming with her two children and wanted to take it further. Wendy has always been a keen swimmer, competing in her university years and even now a member of a competitive swim club.

Wendy loves: Days out with family
Favourite food: Spinach
Favourite Activity: Anything sporty
Dislikes: Bad manners

Baby Swimming

Our baby swimming classes are suitable for babies from birth to one year. It is not necessary for your baby to have completed the immunisations. Throughout the programme of 3 x 10 week terms, babies will advance to moving their legs and splashing their arms and will love chasing small toys.

Toddler Swimming

Our toddler swimming lessons are aimed at toddlers aged 1 year to 4 years. Toys such as balls, fish and egg flips are used to encourage movement in the water and use of animal shaped floats, floating mats and woggles are used to build confidence and independent swimming.

Children's Swimming

The children’s swimming lessons are suitable for children from 4 years and over. We run 3 levels, working on water confidence and swim techniques as well as distance swimming with badges, life saving techniques, floats, treading water & having fun!
